All members:

-
Participation in annual general assembly meetings and discussions
General assembly meetings are held each year in order to review the annual report, approve new amendments to the association bylaws, elect a valid auditor, discuss blocked or terminated membership applications, elect the board of directors when necessary (every three years), and discuss any other issues related to the general assembly. Participating and honorary members do not have voting or nomination rights and cannot be board members.
-
Participation in governance committees All members can serve on governance committees to determine how to best change Jordanian laws and internal Jostone policies to improve the stone and tile sector.
-
Linkages with donors and potential business partners
Donors frequently distribute benefits such as assistance grants for dinner events amd trainings through Jostone, the central representative of the industry.
Representatives of the private sector also contact Jostone to identify potential business partners from among our members. We match their criteria with characteristics of our members.
-
Participation in local and international trade shows and missions
Depending on funding from external sources, Jostone subsidizes its members interested in promoting their companies in international trade shows and trade missions. Jostone also provides logistical support as required, particularly for new participants. In recent trade fairs, Jostone members have saved as much as JD12000 per event for this service.
-
Advocacy for the stone sector at all levels of the Jordanian government
Advocacy services aim to improve the legal and regulatory environment of the stone and tile sector for its members. Members help set advocacy priorities and positions through informal communications with Jostone staff and through formal participation on committees. The following are Jostone's recent advocacy priorities:
-
Improving the labour environment for the stone and tile industry, including advocating for our members to obtain foreign labour permits from the Ministry of Labour.
-
Exempting stone imports from customs fees
-
Exempting tools used in production from import fees
-
Participation in seminars with government officials and industry specialists
Jostone arranges quarterly dinner meetings with government officials and industry specialists of relevance to the stone and tile industry. These dinners are usually catered at five-star hotels in the Amman area.
-
Access to market research resources Members currently enjoy free access to ITC market research resources through Jostone. These allow them to investigate supply and demand for a variety of products on the international level.
Jostone also has a number of documents on the EU, US, and Middle East markets. Subject to availability and to copyright restrictions, Jostone allows its members to access these documents either in electronic form or in hard copy.

Additional Benefits for Working Members:
In addition to the benefits listed above, our working members enjoy the following benefits:
-
Ability to serve on Jostone's board of directors
The board of directors sets association goals, lays out work plans, prepares activity reports, ratifies the annual financial statement and budget, appoints the association CEO (and sets his salary and benefits), forms subcommittees as necessary to finish the work, executes decisions made by the general assembly, and appoints legal consultants, as necessary. Serving on Jostone's board of directors is a matter of prestige for many of our members.
-
Nominating rights for selecting Jostone board members and voting rights Only working members can nominate board members and vote to influence decisions made by the association.
-
Training in CE Marking
Exporting stone and tile to Europe requires a CE Marking. At approximately JD20,000, this is a costly mark of quality to obtain. Jostone, with assistance from the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), links qualified member exporters to financing sources such as the Jordanian Industrial Development Bank and the Jordan Upgrading and Modernization Program (JUMP) so they can obtain the CE Marking at the highly discounted rate of 80% off the normal price.
-
Priority consideration for service benefits
Generally speaking, working members are more serious competitors and subscribe to Jostone's mission and goals more closely than do participating members. Because of this, when a participating and a working member find themselves competing for a service (such as participation in a trade fair), the working member has priority.
